Jubilee Series

The 10 episodes series had an ensemble cast, each with its own brilliant nuances throughout. The casting was meticulously done; Aparikshit Khurana aced the series with his sincerity from his first scene, Aditi Rao Hydari was superb in her role and spoke with her body language more than with dialogues, and Prosenjit Chatterjee did justice to his character with his grace and aura. Sidhant Gupta as Jay, was a surprise element who melted everyone’s hearts. His boyish charm and raw performance were the character’s demand, and Sidhant delivered it pretty well in the package.

The color tone of the series was either black and white or sepia, which aptly suited the era Motwani wanted to create. Subtle references to Raj Kapoor, Ashok Kumar, Nargis, and other actors were scattered all around the series. Those with a good knowledge of the Indian Film Industry will find the easter eggs, for the others, it is just another series based on the politics of the film industry.

The songs by Amit Trivedi match the era and his short appearance on the screen was refreshing. The background score added a flavor to the already crisp cuisine. The editing was at par and all the credit goes to Vikramaditya Motwani who kept everyone on edge from start to finish.

Every actor knew what they were doing, whether it was Shweta Basu Prasad, Ram Kapoor, or Wamiqa Gabbi. And it is impossible to forget Nandish Singh Sandhu, the original Madan Kumar aka Jamshed Khan. His small screen time will leave you wanting for more and his glimpses will be able to satiate your wish.

The best thing about this series was that all the characters were grey, containing the yin and yang within them. You will love a character for doing something and then hate him for his actions the next moment.

A beautiful series that starts with the same thing that it ends with; which is quite difficult to portray. The last song, showcasing the end of the series, will not let you leave your seat even after the series ends. The tangy flavor of the series will keep lingering for a long time.

It is a must-watch for everyone, especially those who love to watch good content and great actors. This is a series that must get a 5-star rating because of its unparalleled direction and cinematography besides acting and dialogues.
